Pension Homeland

60’s fever

The Amsterdam naval base is currently being decommissioned, which means that the island with all its rich history will become accessible to the public. That island now happens to boast one of the treasured SpecialBite restaurants in Amsterdam. The former officers’ lounge has been transformed into a pension with a great bar, restaurant and beer brewery. Take a tour back to the 60’s in a restaurant singing with hues of orange, yellow and red, supported by the enveloping warmth and cozy feeling of its brick fireplace.

This fine dining restaurant serves food which is best described as Mediterranean, seasonal and homemade. The coal fish and gamba roll served with a tom kha kai sauce had very pure flavors and is unmistakably delicious. Their knowledgeable staff will pair the wines perfectly with the food making it a truly remarkable memory. When you arrive at Pension Homeland don’t reach for the wine straight away because their home brewed beers might just be the perfect appetizer.
