Opera Bombana

Italian homestyle

Chef Umberto Bombana rose to fame with his Italian restaurant 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, the only Italian restaurant outside Italy to win three Michelin stars. Opera Bombana was the next step in building his restaurant empire, situated in a prestigious mall in the centre of Beijing, Opera is the dressed down version of it’s more formal predecessor. The restaurant covers two stories with a minimalist array of mirrors, brick walls and art. Make sure to have a look at the original Monet painting on the second floor.

Opera’s Head Chef Marino D’Antonio takes you back to the Sunday dinners of his childhood back in Italy; and considering bread is so fundamental to the cuisine, the in-house bakery provides the backbone to dishes done up with love. The menu includes a great deal of comfort foods including freshly-made pasta, a delight D’Antonio is particularly gifted at. We recognized Bombana’s touch in some of the more flamboyant dishes, and with a taste of one of their 250 wines in stock, you’ll be reminiscing of past memories of home even if Italy was never home.
