Lode & Stijn

Dutch courage

Lode & Stijn is a name that may conjure delight in name recognition alone, though should that name not ring a bell yet, not to worry, because there’s still time to catch up and find out what you’ve been missing on your Berlin food adventures.

Lode van Zuylen and Stijn Remi are the two Dutch gentlemen who are personally responsible, and outright duly at fault, for their names earning such the high praises on the Berlin food scene. These two prime specimens of extraordinarily well-mannered chefs from the land of gouda cheese and wooden clogs have wooed Berliners with their cooking chops, via pop-up restaurants throughout the city, for several years now.

Simplicity is their ultimate sophistication, as they say, and they definitely know how to dress up ‘simple’ – the little black dress of the food world – but with lace, tulle, shiny buttons and lots of funk.

Bitterballen, those traditional Dutch deep-fried magical meat balls, but like you’ve never had them. Some traditional low country classics taken on a trip. A trip into the unknown – just next door, familiar, but tantalizing – what are you waiting for?
